Most patients arrive with one of three situations. Find yours below, then read the practical questions underneath.
A single tooth implant replaces the root and the crown, so the new tooth stands on its own without touching the healthy teeth either side of the gap. A traditional bridge, by contrast, requires those neighbouring teeth to be cut down.
The gap matters more than it looks. Once a tooth is lost the jawbone beneath it begins to shrink, and the teeth around it drift to fill the space. An implant loads the bone the way a natural root does, which keeps it stable.
Treatment is usually one implant, a healing period, then a custom crown matched to the shade and shape of your own teeth.
Multiple gaps do not need one implant per tooth. An implant-supported bridge uses a small number of implants to carry several teeth, which keeps treatment simpler and the cost lower than replacing each tooth individually.
Where a whole arch is missing or failing, a full-arch solution such as All-on-4 anchors a complete set of teeth on four to six implants. In many cases you leave with teeth fitted the same day.
At your consultation we take a 3D CBCT scan to see exactly how much bone you have, then show you a digital preview of the result before anything begins.
A loose denture is usually a sign that the jawbone has shrunk beneath it. Adhesive and relines treat the symptom. Implants treat the cause by anchoring the denture to the bone itself.
Two routes are available. An implant-retained denture clips onto implants and can still be removed for cleaning. A fixed implant denture stays permanently in place and is cleaned like natural teeth.
Both stop the slipping, restore real chewing power, and remove the need for adhesive. Most patients tell us the difference in eating and speaking is immediate.
We understand that dental implant surgery can be quite daunting for some patients, which is why we offer various sedation options to make sure you're comfortable throughout the procedure. These include local anaesthesia and conscious sedation for those who require additional relaxation.
The implant itself is designed to last a lifetime, and every implant we place carries a 3-year warranty. The crown or bridge attached to it is the part that sees daily wear and may eventually need replacing.
Longevity comes down to two things: the health of the gum and bone around the implant, and routine hygiene appointments. Implants do not decay, but the tissue supporting them still needs looking after.
It depends on the starting point. A straightforward single implant is typically placed in one appointment, left to integrate with the bone for a few months, then finished with the final crown.
Immediate implants, teeth in a day, place the implant and a temporary tooth in the same visit. Cases needing a bone graft or sinus lift take longer, and we tell you the realistic timeline at the consultation rather than after you commit.
Being turned down elsewhere does not mean implants are off the table. Bone can be rebuilt with a graft or a sinus lift, and we assess this properly with a 3D CBCT scan rather than a visual check.
If a graft is needed, we tell you up front what it involves and what it costs, so there are no additions partway through treatment.
There is no upper age limit. What matters is general health and the condition of the gum and bone, not the number on your birth certificate, and many of our patients are in their seventies and eighties.
